Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a natural occurring hormone which assists with sexual development. DHT also becomes some hair follicles worst enemy. Follicles at the front and crown are genetically programmed to become more susceptible to DHT at some point in life. Those hairs which cover the bottom back of the head are not susceptible. During hair loss, DHT can be detrimental to the scalp by causing the production of excess oil that can clog hair follicles. Without a DHT inhibitor, either systemically (in the bloodstream) or locally on the scalp, each time your hair cyles, the follicle will become thinner, shorter, and ultimately it will not produce hair.

Propecia is a DHT inhibitor. This product may help the hair on the top of the head and crown, but will not help the recession areas. Once a person stops using Propecia, regrowth will also stop, and within 12 months, all new hair may be lost. The pill is not inexpensive and significant side effects are possible.

You may want to check out our Hair Support™ Vitamins using natural ingredients to inhibit DHT.

Minoxidil is a vasodilator. This product causes blood to come to the surface of the skin. The increased blood supply will feed the papilla, causing the hair to grow stronger. If the papilla is dead, it is dead and no amount of blood supply will change that.

This product may help the hair on the top of the head and crown, but will not help the recession areas. Also, the sooner in life an individual starts using Minoxidil, the better chance they have of maintaining their hair. Minoxidil is to be applied everyday for the rest of your life. If the product is discontinued, the hair loss will revert to its prior situation and everything maintained will be lost.

If you would like to try Minoxidil, we suggest you use the Hair Support™ System to cleanse blocked follicles to increase the effectiveness of the Minoxidil.
